Activities

We offer foundational classes in Nejang Tibetan Healing Yoga and other aspects of Tibetan Medicine throughout the Portland area, and host workshops with visiting doctors. Local students also gather regularly at our inner southeast Portland locations to participate in Medicine Buddha healing meditations, and to practice the Ngöndro (preliminary practices) and share Ganapuja feasts in the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition.

Full calendar of classes and workshops is posted on the Sorig Khang Portland website.

Sorig Khang Portland is an approved NCCAOM Professional Development Activity provider. PDA Points (CEUs) will be offered to licensed acupuncturists upon the completion of approved courses.

Nejang Healing Yoga Classes

Nejang (Tib. གནས་སྦྱངས་) is a Tibetan healing yoga practice that literally means ‘cleaning the energy sites of the body.’ It consists of simple breath work, physical exercises, and self-massage designed to improve the function of the sense organs and inner organs, balance the internal energy, open the channels, and relax the mind.

Tibetan Medicine Classes & Consultations

We offer practical classes and workshops in Tibetan Medicine as well as consultations with visiting doctors and teachers.

Yuthok Nyingthig Practices

The Yuthok Nyingthig (Tib. གཡུ་ཐོག་སྙིང་ཐིག་) is a cycle of Vajrayana Buddhist practice connected with Tibetan Medicine.

We meet regularly to practice the Ngöndro (Tib. སྔོན་འགྲོ་) preliminary practices — the root of the tree from which all other Vajrayana practices grow. We also meet monthly on Medicine Buddha Day (the eighth day of the Tibetan lunar month) to share a Ganapuja (Tib. ཚོགས་མཆོད་ “tsok chöd”) feast.

Medicine Buddha Healing Meditations

We meet on the day of the full moon to practice the Medicine Buddha healing meditation from Ju Mipham Rinpoche's Mantra Healing Treatise. This simple practice involves visualization and mantra recitation and can be used to heal oneself, heal others, and benefit the deceased.
