Yuthok Nyingthig Ati Yoga with Dr. Nida Chenagtsang

Registration for this course will be available soon.

Ati Yoga, also known as Dzogchen, is a meditation technique to directly reveal the ultimate nature of our mind. It is most commonly translated as ‘Great Perfection’ or 'Great Completeness' since it is a practice which completely ends samsara. In the Yuthok Nyingthig cycle of spiritual teachings the chapter on Ati Yoga is called ‘The Self-Liberation of Samsara-Nirvana’. It is the secret path of Trekchö and Tögel for realizing the final rainbow body, the expression of the complete transformation and control over the elements of matter, energy, and mind.

2016, the year of the Fire Monkey, is a most powerful spiritual year — according to Padmasambhava’s prophecy, it is the year of his emanation on this planet, a time when his energies are particularly strong and prevalent. In honor of this auspicious year, Dr. Nida is offering these rare and profound teachings for the first time in the United States. In preparation, please read Shabkar’s ‘The Flight of the Garuda,’ translated by Keith Dowman. (This text is available electronically to members of Portland Public Library.)

Introduction to the Yuthok Nyingthig

The Yuthok Nyingthik (Tib. གཡུ་ཐོག་སྙིང་ཐིག་), the 'Heart Essence of Yuthok', is a complete cycle of Vajrayana Buddhist practice, beginning with the preliminary practices and progressing through the highest spiritual methods. Its concise techniques bring about worldly benefits, such as improved health and longevity, as well as the ultimate benefit of complete spiritual realization. As the main spiritual practice of Tibetan physicians, the Yuthok Nyingthig also contains unique practices that heighten the intuition and healing capacities of the doctor.

This talk is an opportunity to learn about and make a connection with this profound cycle of practice, and to learn more about Sorig Khang Portland's ongoing Yuthok Nyingthig group practices.

The Yuthok Nyingthik (Tib. གཡུ་ཐོག་སྙིང་ཐིག་) is a complete cycle of Vajrayana Buddhist practice, beginning with the preliminary practices and progressing through the highest spiritual methods.

The Ganapuja (Tib. ཚོགས་མཆོད་ “tsok chöd”) feast offering is a practice of the mindful enjoyment of the sense pleasures that is held regularly on Medicine Buddha Day, the eighth day of the Tibetan lunar month. This practice offers a powerful method for purifying obscurations and accumulating merit, and provides an opportunity for us to gather to share prayers, food, and company. Before the puja, we will do a short Medicine Buddha healing practice, received from Dr. Nida Chenagtsang. This meditation is a simple method for healing self and others. Please bring offerings of food, drink, and/or flowers for the feast.

The monthly Yuthok Nyingthig Ganapuja is held at our Sorig Khang location in inner southeast Portland — please contact us for directions.
