Sorig Khang Portland is a branch of Sorig Khang International (formerly the International Academy for Traditional Tibetan Medicine). Sorig Khang (Tib. གསོ་རིག་ཁང་) loosely translates as “medicine house”, a place where healing work is practiced and shared.

Local students gather regularly at our inner southeast Portland locations to participate in Medicine Buddha healing meditations, and to practice the Ngöndro (preliminary practices) and share Ganapuja feasts in the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition.

We also host workshops with visiting doctors, and offer foundational classes in Tibetan Nejang Healing Yoga and other aspects of Tibetan Medicine throughout the Portland area.

Sorig Khang Portland is an approved NCCAOM Professional Development Activity provider. PDA Points (CEUs) will be offered to licensed acupuncturists upon the completion of approved Sorig Khang Portland courses.

For a bodhisattva who wants to achieve enlightenment there is no greater obstacle than illness! When living beings are burdened with an ailing body, the spirit cannot be at peace. How can perfection be achieved under such circumstances? The bodhisattva who strives for enlightenment must therefore first heal the afflictions of the body.
