Don Farber shares his experiences photographing Buddhist life for over forty decades and of having the rare opportunity to meet and document the lives His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other Buddhist masters over several decades. 

We then watch a portion of the film “Living Wisdom with His Holiness the Dalai Lama” which honors the life, culture, and teachings of the Dalai Lama with over 400 photographs and beautiful Tibetan music.

Don Farber is a photographer and Fulbright scholar and founder of Dharma Heritage Project who has photographed Buddhist life for over three decades in nine countries, and has been photographing the Dalai Lama since 1979. His photographs of Buddhist life have appeared in many publications , including Life and Timemagazines, and have been featured on the covers of many books, including the international bestseller, The Art of Happiness. His photography books in Taking Refuge in LA (Aperture, 1987), Visions of Buddhist Life (University of California Press, 2002), Tibetan Buddhist Life (DK Publishing, 2003), Portraits of Tibetan Buddhist Masters (University of California Press, 2005), and His Holiness the Dalai Lama (teNeues, 2009). He has been a frequent contributor to Shambhala Sun and Tricyclemagazines and his photographs have been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Asia Society, and many other museums and galleries. Along with receiving the Fulbright, he has received grants from the California Arts Council, California Council for the Humanities, and the Asian Cultural Council among others. He is presently establishing a special collection of his photography, film, and research at UCLA in association with the UCLA Department of Buddhist Studies and the UCLA East Asian Library.
